How long will it take to get a package from the midwest US? I'm in the process of getting buttons made up for Toss it Team. Maybe also ColorJoy.

@lisa-barnes wow! those are GREAT videos! I'd come to a similar conclusion that video would be the most effective way to do what I want to do.
The October 1st deadline was because I wanted to take advantage of a show I'm doing and test market this new product. My quickie fix, I think is going to be to have my teenage, waldof-educated daughter…[Read more]

Hi @jill-maldonado– I'm just getting caught up in the Starship and saw this thread.
I teach knitting for a living, and also teach teachers how to teach both knit and crochet. I have created “how-to” instructions both on video and in paper handouts. If you need help with this side of the project, I'm happy to help, but not sure if I have time to…[Read more]

Hi @dana-gervais! We could do it one of two ways- if you are offering the pattern for free, then I'd love to have you give me a coupon code or have you email me the pattern so that I can print out 12 copies and include hard copies in the goode bag (they LOVE this, because then they shop for yarn for your pattern that day at the show!).
Or, if…[Read more]

Thanks so much for sharing that link Karen! I need to try this method- I ‘ve been weaving across, not vertically. The splitting technique is one I never heard of. Off to try it out! 🙂

Susan – Here is how I do it. Scroll all the way down until you see my name. I plan to do a You Tube Video Next month on it as well!

Hi Karen,
One thing I remember when I did contracting for you was that you didn't want contractors to do any finishing because you had your own way of doing things. Do you have a special technique for weaving in the ends so they are extra secure? That was the one comment on many of my swatches- that the tails were popping out. I had woven them…[Read more]

Hi Susan,
As one of the former board members who put together the review process, I can honestly say that it is very very very strict. And because there are so many reviewers not all of them are necessarily on the same page.
You have dont work for me in the past, and I can tell you that you are none of those things. You do fantastic work!…[Read more]

@katie-franceschi My entire basement is studio space. I sold my dryer to make room for a second laundry tub. I have 10 turkey roasters. Since they use so much power, we can only have 5 on at a time, so as soon as the first 5 are done, we turn on the other 5. Extension cords are arranged so paired roasters (one on, one off) go to the same circuit.…[Read more]

@lisa-barnes Constant Companion is great! Do you want me to create a coupon code and email it to you or generate individual codes? Let me know how and when you need them.

Lisa Barnes replied to the topic Yarnie and Designer Goodie Bag Request in the forum Engineering 8 years, 8 months ago
Hi @dana-gervais– Sure, an easy sock pattern would be good. OR your Constant Companion shawl would be PERFECT for my group, if that's o.k. with you?

@susan-heyn I know how hard it is, but you are none of those negative things. I've been seriously taken aback by a few things in reworking my patterns lately. It is hard to take it in and not go to dark places.

Good way to think about it @jill-wolcott. My first reaction was to do the – I suck, the one thing I thought I was good at, now I'm not as good as I thought; putting myself down as a loser, etc. Need to try to think of it as a learning opportunity and a chance to improve my skills.

Jill Wolcott replied to the topic CGOA Masters Program in the forum Goals, Accountability, and Celebrations! 8 years, 8 months ago
@susan-heyn, I know it is harsh to not pass the first time, but take it as an opportunity to up your game! Just think of it as an opportunity to learn. I know those reviewers are pretty strict and have ways they prefer, so part of the process is “doing it their way”. Think how smart you'll be when you do get the pass!

I had ordered the CGOA Masters Program in June, and submitted my portfolio for review in August. So disappointed when I got it back today- I didn't pass. Have to redo a few swatches and review my answers to a few questions. The main comment was that my finishing techniques need improvement and some of my yarn tails were visible. I've been weaving…[Read more]

And thanks for purchasing a pattern @lisa-barnes

@riin-gill For me, necessity is the mother of efficiency! I've always had less than ideal circumstances pressing on me, so I use a regular routine, a dyeing calendar, and Todoist (list making & reminder software) to keep me running smoothly. I do most of my admin work at night. Mr. Yarn Love works full time and is getting his MBA at night, so…[Read more]
