I'll be signing books at Merritt Bookstore booths. Was supposed to only be Sunday, but they have me down for both days. Hope to have my new book there as well; just got the final PDF today and ordering books tonight. Will stop by Lisa's booth as I have a sample for her out of the Zephyrette.

On the photos – what is your set up and what software, if any, do you have available?
I just downloaded one of your photos and played with it in the Apple default Preview app. I've attached a screenshot of the difference. If you're on a Mac, open the photo in Preview, and go to Tools > Adjust Color in the menu. You want to be concentrating…[Read more]

The balance of working for others vs working for myself is a BIG struggle for me too, @nessa-jay I do tech editing and pattern writing and technical illustrations and packaging/print liaison work for independent patternmakers, while I've also been trying to get my sewn clothing & sewing pattern collection put together. I have a helper, but she…[Read more]

Alright, who's going? I cannot WAIT to get to the New York Sheep & Wool Festival (aka Rhinebeck) in ten days! I'm still putting my plans together but know I will be at the festival on Saturday and Sunday and would love to meet up with other captains. I'll probably be at both Ravelry meetups, so that is an option. Last year some of us met at Lisa…[Read more]

I've added a few more items and changed my banner and shop logo. Any tips on making my photos better? I know that's one area that needs improvement

what's going well & what are you working on?
My first thought when I saw the email was, it's Wednesday?! (Sunday night through last night was Rosh Hashanah. Today feels like a Wed-Mon-Tuesday.)I'm still making progress despite the extra compressed time schedule.
My goal is to make Q4 goals even more realistic based on what I hopefully learned…[Read more]

Hi @tara and @nessa-jay
Day ONE – map making
I'm catching up – I have been so far off track that I didn't even get to first mile marker on my Q3 map – I can't recall the last time I checked in here. I think that a combination of my executive function issues and school holidays is just pure poison to my ability to organise and regulate. My NUMBER…[Read more]

The internet ate my post so here's the short version of my findings so far:
I've gone through about half the course and I'm shocked.
I need to sell a highly unrealistic amount of pinatas a month (40 to 60) to reach my minimum income goal.
I sell about 1/3 of that amount now. My materials are as low as can be and my prices are high (within the…[Read more]

@karen-whooley,I'm trying your technique to weave in ends and not sure if I'm understanding it correctly. You say, “Using a steel needle that is the correct size for your yarn, slip the needle under two strands of yarn; when you get to the third, split the strand. (Yes, you read that right.) Then again, slip under two strands, split the third.…[Read more]

That is surprising @nessa-jay! I have not had any issues with them and I have contacted several times. But I had straight and direct how to do this that I always did with Mail Chimp. And I am happy to say they can do everything I did before!

Updating this for anyone who reads this thread later on:
Mailerlite customer service has been hit or miss. Maybe it's because my list is still tiny and I'm not giving them $ but I contacted them earlier today and the CS 1) didn't answer my question 2) gave me info I didn't ask for 3) had no suggestions for how to address my problem 4) they don't…[Read more]

Day 2: Mile Markers
My mile markers for this Q are:
1. I have eliminated all “unwanted” products from my shop.
2. The branding process with the designer is complete.
3. I have completed the holiday and spring collection.

Hi Jennie!
Hooray on meeting your sales goal, that's awesome!!!
Ok so I went to your website to see what the book was so I could be more helpful in my comments, and now I have my first suggestion: put that sucker in a prominent place on your website! Maybe it's there and I'm just not seeing it or understanding which of the sidebar images is the…[Read more]

I totally understand, Nessa! I work (as you probably already know) as a VA/Project Manager for a variety of biz owners (including Tara), and the hard part for me is making time to work on growing my own income streams when I'm spending so much time working for other people. Added to that is the complication that I homeschool my kids so I can't…[Read more]
