@tanja-osswald Yes, separate streams on the same maps is a better way of doing it. My final goal is income based, so they both head there. Thanks!
@s589886 That's rough that it isn't working for you now. It has been hard for me to determine how much is too much, too.
I think it would work better for me to list them separately, but ultimately…[Read more]

Thanks Tanja. I didn't know Karen was having trouble getting Starship notifications. I understood her meaning to split the end you are weaving in, but am a bit confused by it. I'll try to email Karen

@kathleen-dames When/where are the Ravelry meet-ups?
I'll be there both days so I can pretty much meet up whenever. I'm very excited about my first Rhinebeck trip! 🙂

Day 3: 50 to-dos.
No don't worry, I wont list them all here. What I've learned from doing map-making before is that these need to be tiny, actionable and really specific, or I get overwhelm and flop on the floor. So I will go and do that beneath the ten mile markers that I listed earlier. @tara I find that I get really frustrated at how distracted…[Read more] -

Hi @nessa-jay, I was looking at your mile markers and I think the only one that I wasn't sure about was ‘create hype'. That's a big, fairly amorphous word. Have you done the marketing course? I think that with all the other work you're doing, that will happen naturally, if you're targetting the right people and the right area of the market for…[Read more]

Hi @sarah-walworth I think I agree with @tanja-osswald, three complete maps might be too much. I also have a tendency to run more than one thing at a time and right now, it's not working 😀 If you are able to be more objective and realistic about how much time you have and each thing will take, why not try? Just don't guilt yourself if it turns…[Read more]

@sarah-walworth, I usually have several paths on my map, which are unconnected (i.e. steps towards my next book, some teaching goals, other stuff), and that works well. The only concern I'd have with three full maps for the next quarter is that it might put you under too much pressure to have that many goals to reach. But then, if you plan…[Read more]

@susan-heyn, as Karen does not get all Starship notifications, maybe I can help: I read her text as meaning that you do not split the working yarn but you split the strand you are weaving through.

Thank you Tawny! That listing is just for a pattern, not the finished pin so I don't show the back. On the listing for some of the finished Christmas pins I show the back. I have a PC, not a Mac, but do have several photo editing programs. I need to spend some time learning to use the programs to adjust my pictures. That's a great tip to cover the…[Read more]

@lynn-hershberger Thanks for the offer of buttons! So I don't actually put anything in my bags that is purely promotional unless it's from a paid sponsor. There needs to be something of value in it for my attendees (coupon codes, freebies, etc.) Also I'm sticking to knitting themed items in the bags so I don't think the Toss It Team buttons would…[Read more]

Okay this happens to me when I make unclear or fuzzy goals. For example I'll make a goal “exercise for 15 minutes 3 times a week” but in my head I actually mean “do the rowing machine for 15 minutes 3 times a week” so then when I go for a brisk walk around the neighbourhood I don't want to count that as completing my goal even though it satisfies…[Read more]

@jess-cook, you're awesome! Thank you so much for these suggestions. Perfect timing too, as I'm making my map for this quarter. And yes, I do have my book (The Creative Retreat) on the sidebar of my site, but you're right, it's very understated. Thanks again. 🙂

I'll be there Fri.-Saturday day, then returning Sunday with my students on a guided trip, so not available to meet that day. Lars, I will try to bring students by for book signing!
Would love to meet up during the day on Saturday (or early dinner Sat. night).
I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR! 😉

Check-in day again!
Whatcha workin on?
Good question. I just returned from a week in Italy and have no idea where to start first. That is, I started sorting through emails. And I have a list of urgent to-do's for tomorrow, things like tax stuff. What’s going well?
The holidays were great. I did a little crocheting while there but mainly took t…[Read more] -

I want to share here, not in a bragging way, but more like a befuddled way, that I reached a 5-year goal too early. My goal was to be offered to teach classes at a national fiber event and that happened at Stitches Texas a couple weekends ago. I felt really honored, because I absolutely love to teach knitting, but had to turn down the offer…[Read more]

I really run two separate businesses: I teach knitting classes locally in person and I do editing services for clients online. I was considering this morning to write up three separate maps, one for each of my business streams and one for personal goals that produce no income but are very satisfying. None of the milestones for each of the maps…[Read more]
