I'm so sorry you had to go through this especially while on vacation!
I've only had a self-hosted site for about six months. I'm hosted by Green Geeks on the recommendation of @lynn-hershberger. She's used them for years. I haven't had any problems or need to contact them but they have a live chat support team available 24/7. That was a huge plus…[Read more]

Wow, thanks so much @jess-cook! That means so much to me. And that's so funny about bullet-journaling. I never thought I would be so happy with that system but I really do love it. Who knew?! 🙂

No the order is actually just alphabetic! I hadn't thought about that yet.. that is one of the things I was doing this week.
But I think you just nailed what I wanted to accomplish!

I have been all over the place with my planner. I love all the pretty ones but I just dont have the time to make them myself. I need that time to do all the other things!! 🙂
I loved my arc that I used for a while, then I switched to the get to work and found it too heavy to bring ith me. I am currently using a bullet journal now and HATE…[Read more]

Karen…
Is the order you have on your website the order for the book?
I am asking because I was playing around with the garden theme for writing copy. Starting with Incipient (beginning) then move to garden structure…Palisade, Trellis, Aslant. Then to what is needed to make things grow…Solar, Eclipse, Breeze, Drift. Then to plants…Briar…[Read more]

Thanks so much @penny-shima-glanz 🙂 There is no rush. I am resigned to the fact that it's going to take time to get back. The website is functional, just needs some things added again and layouts fixed – stuff like that. It looks like the child theme had a lot of stuff wiped from it – widgets and layout stuff.
Any pointers in the right…[Read more]

Hi @jess-cook thank you 🙂 It wasn't a whole lot of fun. Thanks for the recommendation. Not having to have had to contact them ever is a good sign! I know the support contact folks almost by name with my current one – I am always on to them. I will check out bluehost. Thank you 🙂

Hello All!
In chat last week I mentioned that I am utterly and completely stuck on the romance text for the patterns in my book. I mean COMPLETELY blank.I need your help!
So I set up a password protected page on my website with images of each design and a little description about them. (I mentioned this in chat too) This page will be up on my…[Read more]

A day early as Yom Kippur begins tonight.
what's going well & what are you working on?
My technology business is taking most of my (albeit limited) attention so for this month. I'm making progress in smaller fits and starts than I'd hoped, but that's ok. My plan is shaping up!
how can we help? I'm good.

@tanja-osswald you're welcome! Yep, that's what I would do. But as always, you've got to do what you think will work best for you and the people who buy your work!

oh shelley I'm so sorry. I'll read through your experience soon (tonight is Yom Kippur so today is more hectic than normal) and point you to a few resources for hosting, additional security, and more.
Widgets can be tricky, but there are a few places we can look.
Brute force attacks are painful and frustrating.
More soon. If you want to email,…[Read more]

@jennie-moraitis wow, your post on the BJ idea is so awesome!! You've really made me think hard about that method, because I've been using a combination of a regular planner for To Dos and tracking my time and then a separate notebook every time I need to make a list of something, and it seems like it would be SO much more effective to have…[Read more]

@nessa-jay I just want to say I totally understand! This was the point I found myself in with my yarn business – I was working at capacity and just not making it work. For me, I chose to end that business and give myself the peace of mind to work for small business owners instead of being one. But I also know that I could have pursued other paths…[Read more]

@jennie-moraitis you're so very welcome!! I was seriously WOWED by your website. You've even got me considering Bullet Journaling now, ha! And you know I'm a planner junkie so that's a big deal for me… 🙂

Jess Cook replied to the topic How to announce rising prices? in the forum Engineering 8 years, 9 months ago
Hey Tanja!
In the past I had to raise prices on my yarns. I think I told my “inner circle” customers on my Ravelry group, but I didn't make a big announcement everywhere. My thought was, if I just raise the prices a little (it wasn't a huge increase), probably nobody will notice. But if I announce that I'm raising my prices, everyone will notice…[Read more]

Oh wow, Shelley, that sounds awful!!! I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that, but way to go for not giving up until you found a fix!!!
I use BlueHost for my web hosting. I can't say I've ever had to really had to troubleshoot anything, though, so I don't know if it's good for that or not.
I'm gonna tag @penny-shima-glanz to this convo as…[Read more]

Hi @celeste-douville – I don't think people check this particular thread very often, so you might want to try posting it in Ten Forward to see if you get any more responses!
We tend to keep this particular area of the discussion board for announcements from HQ.
Thanks!

Hi folks.
Well the past 2 and a bit weeks have been pretty ordinary. I am going to have a bit of a “get it all out” session before I ask my clear ask – so feel free to scroll down the bottom if you want.
My website got hacked the night before my latest CAL was due to start which was also the day I started a long planned 2 week trip. I lost…[Read more]
