It totally makes sense – but just one more thing: I'd just put the lengthy description in for the first level – the other levels have so much other nice new stuff, it is sufficient to just write “access to my patreon feed” or whatever you had before.

@linda-tieu, you are not too verbose at all! Can you add a little blurb to your first mention of your feed in the rewards, telling people what they are getting? Your feed is much more useful and fun than I expected!

Thanks for your input @jess-cook 🙂
I made a conscious choice not to plan it as a make an afghan CAL project. I have run CAL's solidly for the past 3 or so years – 2 a year and I need a break from that. Plus as you say – that's a big ask cost wise for an afghan pattern. Having said that, I will most likely still do at least one free CAL as it's…[Read more]

Thanks @karen-robinson. That is reassuring to know. I have toyed around with just raising some of the styles because they are more labor intensive.
You are so right @jess-cook. Thanks. I just need to put my big girl pants on and do it!
I think I will send out a notice in my wholesale newsletter in December that in Jan there will be an…[Read more]

Thank you, @jess-cook!
Linda, you could mention your free pdfs on the first support level. Those girls are soooo cute!

Congratulations, Linda and Tanja!! How exciting for both of you!
Linda – I love the idea of this project! The only real question I have, though is – what's going to be part of your patrons-only feed? Like, what do I get out of it for supporting you?
As an idea for a bigger sponsorship level – what if you offered to do a custom piece of art for…[Read more]

Raising prices is one of those things that freaks out the seller WAY more than the buyer, in most cases. MANY of your customers won't even notice, and if somebody asks you can always tell them it was a response to rising prices in supplies, blahblahblah. But you don't have to make a big deal out of it – just change 'em all at once and you'll…[Read more]

Here are some inspiration ideas for you – people who I know have successfully done KALs before:
Romi's 7 Small Shawls
Lee Meredith's Adventure KALs and now she's doing a year-long hat club
Laura Aylor always does one at Christmas that's usually pretty popularSeveral podcasts do KALs or co-sponsor them and that draws in big participation,…[Read more]

I have to preface this by saying that I'm probably not 100% your target audience for this as I rarely do squares like that, BUT if it were me I'd be thinking less in terms of “a pattern a week” and more in terms of a finished project – like an afghan. So if you're gonna run it for 6 months and if they join the whole 6 months then that's roughly 26…[Read more]

Hi @lea-ann-mcgregor – wow, what a great project! It sounds like you have a lot of enthusiasm for it and you've also already got some customers, so that's awesome!!
I can say that I was part of a project that was very similar to this, and it just didn't work. In that case I feel like it was because even though it was a great idea, it wasn't…[Read more]

Jess Cook replied to the topic How many product lines is too many? in the forum Engineering 8 years, 8 months ago
Hi Dawn!
I think you've gotten some really great feedback here already, but here's my two cents (and a lot of it is an echo of what you've just gotten): WHY?
I think there are a couple of things that yarn customers look for from a yarn company, and it mostly comes down to a variety of weights. If you have one yarn in each of the main weights…[Read more]

I second Jill's question: What is your goal in offering more yarn bases? How can you measure this goal?
