  • Oh yeahhh meee tooo!

That's why I love the North Star idea so much. My why is always a chance to see if it aligns with the North Stars I've chosen for myself.

  • I think you should be really active on the social media that you like best.

    Is that rav for you?

If you don't love the platform you aren't going to show up consistently.

Is there are unifying theme behind the projects aside from quick and small? If so, try to come up with a name from there. If not use quick and small 😛

  • I have already posted about the project on my business facebook page and have the first pattern ready to release on Monday. Should I start a new group FB page too and then what would I call it(I'm using #52crochetdesigns on FB and IG) and how will I get anyone to a new page??

  • So much good feedback!

I have decided to have a meeting with my staff when they come back next week and tell them we're closing and go over the steps we need to take. I have a list outlined that I'll print out so everyone has a copy.

We'll have a big 3 day 50% off sale here at the studio Jan 13-15, and then put everything on sale 50% off online.…[Read more]

  • A group is different. It's a place like a Rav group where folks can chat on posts. To get people to join, just post a link to it in your emails, facebook page posts, blog – anywhere 🙂

I've not run and alongs just knitted in them. I'm one that doesn't really like mystery ones… how do I know I'm going to like it if don't see it? And not just like it when it's done but like making it… I HATE knitting bobbles so something with a lot of bobbles isn't something I want to make. But I LOVE the idea of a spinalong! Both as a…[Read more]

Oh that sounds awesome! I'm going to have to try that one too.

  • Rin, I kind of have the same feelings as you. I have had The Fiber Closet for many years. I have closed the doors to the brick and mortar shop but am keeping the online shop and plan to use the shop as a private studio. In addition, this year I was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer and had a bilateral mastectomy in October & will have…[Read more]

I've found Pocket to be a helpful tool so I don't get distracted. If I see something I want to read or investigate further, I'll save to Pocket so it's easy to find. Then I don't have a million tabs open waiting for me to review.

There are Chrome and Firefox extensions (may exist for other browsers too) so you can just right-click over a link…[Read more]

  • Oh, Riin, I'm so glad you have some clarity around this. I SO understand feeling stuck (I felt stuck for the last year with BCB, I worried if I stopped no one would ever listen to me again) and I'm SO glad you're getting yourself unstuck.
What Jess said about not owing anyone anything and just closing up quickly is exactly what I would have said.…[Read more]

  • I'm so sorry things haven't worked out and you're burned out on what you used to love. That's always really hard.

As a jewelry maker myself, I will point out that jewelry is also flooded ;p I don't know how many yarn people are usually at events, but it often seems like every other booth is jewelry. I'm not sure what kind of jewelry you're…[Read more]

  • I have a Facebook business page( facebook.com/KnotJustCrocheted).
Can I just use that or should I start a group page and if so, how do I get people to follow me there?

I've run several crochet-a-longs and here's what I've found works for me. Spinners may well be different but in general I think things would be much the same.

    1. Mystery/not mystery
A LOT of folks say they want a mystery. Lots. But the reality is, more folks don't. I have run a couple of mystery cals and after a few requests for sneak peeks…[Read more]

  • Lots of great advice already. I just wanted to say good on you for seeing it wasn't working and deciding to move on. It sounds like the right decision. It must have been a hard one to make.

As for a new name for your new venture, I agree with the others who say simple is best. I know that even jewelry/jewellery can be an issue. How about…[Read more]

  • Oh and your post is fine. The last bit about instagram maybe I'd cut though. If you're reaching folks on facebook, show them there the sneak peeks and do it on Instagram as well. You can link your IG to post for you to your facebook page which is what I do most often. I just have to edit the facebook page post a little to include the direct link.

  • I am doing a similar thing and had so much trouble naming it LOL. I ended up asking Instagram what I should name it and while I didn't use one suggestion, I combined a couple and made it my own.

A ravelry group is all well and good as long as you are present there regularly. I have a group and I am not often there but I intend to try to make…[Read more]

  • Watcha working on: testing out my video taping setup and testing Adobe Premiere

    What's going well: ^^^

What do you need help with?? What routine/procedures do I need to keep in place as far as retaining the raw video footage, the edits, final uploads, etc. @tara
