@jill-wolcott He's pretty good about pampering me. He brings me cookies. He takes us out to movies. I totally just don't think about pampering myself. When I lived alone, I went out to like one movie every three years.
For years pretty much all the money I've spent has gone into the business. I have to say, I am looking forward to knitting…[Read more]

Yeah, I kind of thought you might not think of it @riin-gill. Pay your taxes, pay off some of your credit card debt, save some to live off of, but do some nice–even if inexpensive–things for yourself. Tell Rob I said he should see that you do it. 😉

I use a modified bullet journal, but I've been revising it. I like Circa notebooks because I can change them easily. BUT, I'm really noticing that the bigger the notebook gets, the less likely I am to use it, so I need to get rid of most of my larger disks so I can make many small notebooks. Anyone interested? These are interchangeable with…[Read more]

@jill-wolcott Pamper myself? Wow, I never considered that. My plan was to pay my taxes, pay off all my credit cards, and hope to have some money left over so I have something to live off of until I start making money off jewelry. I guess I could do that and get a haircut…

@riin-gill, but the thing is that you aren't dying, nor is your identity. You are growing and changing. You are not a failure because you took a hard look, realized that you needed to make a change and took the necessary steps. Right now you feel like a hero to me.
A lot sale would be really nice. I think you should take a chunk of the money…[Read more]

Yay Ann! I'll put it in my next newsletter. I'd like to take a look at it before giving me ideas.

Whatcha workin on?
I'm working on all the year end and closing down stuff for the yarn biz. We took year end inventory before the going out of business sale, so I need to now translate that into dollar amounts.
I'm waiting to hear back from a store owner in OH who's interested in buying all of my remaining inventory. I sent her a price for the…[Read more]

Finally, my first video podcast is out in the world! My plan is for it to be weekly and about 30 minutes in length and it will include some glass demos, lots of knitting and sharing of yarn goodies.
Sharing and input is appreciated. (For some reason I cannot put a link in here!)
I also think I need a name for it. Currently my YouTube…[Read more]

I have a much more detailed list in my Accountability Notebook on Evernote, but it is a good reminder that is is just one stitch (piece of paper, writing session, meeting, phone call, etc.) at a time! I know you and I both struggle with the continual meal production (for anyone else, since Mitch is also working from home–since mid-July, I now…[Read more]

Jill, your photos are great. I've noticed.
Enjoy your quiet-time. I'm thrilled Eli's at his office this week.
The only way to finish a knit item is one stitch at a time (well, unless you're decreasing, but that's another story). You'll conquer your three!
Good rain thoughts! It's damp here but not more than that.

Echoing what Jill said, congrats on the hour changes and your framing @petra-sielias! I remember when I was winding down my time as IT Manager at a law firm and the joy when I could reclaim each new chunk of time. Enjoy in health, happiness, and your business! 🙂

@petra-sielias! Whoo, asking for fewer hours is huge! I like how you framed it as “I have 8 more hours to work on my business”.

ACTUALLY! I was just on another thread and @annette-petavy just described InkScape as an open source Illustrator. I have actually had my eye on it myself. https://inkscape.org/en/about/features/

Jacqueline Karley replied to the topic Where to download Illustrator? in the forum Engineering 8 years, 4 months ago
Sadly the only way I have heard of one that is free would be a bootlegged version. I heard powerpoint has some of the features, and then there are some open source programs out there that do bits and pieces. But that won't really help with your class probably. (this is all from my computer design SO)

Getting things sorted for the YAL I'm part of later this year (mailing suppliers, getting colorways settled, etc) and I'm in the middle of reorganizing all of my materials and home office. What’s going well?
