Thanks Jill, and yeah, I understand that there are rules and significant challenges with this idea. Meghan and I have a tentative 5-year plan to open up a publishing house, and I'm trying to think bigger. I'm really good at complying with rules while getting things accomplished, but I'm also new to the game.
I did do the Industry Showcase, but…[Read more]

Thank Lea-Ann, you bring up some good points. I should clarify that I would probably need to structure it so that these additional people were within my company. I've been playing with the idea of starting more of a publishing house/expanding the services and scope of my company for a good while, so this would be an opportunity to do so. I do know…[Read more]

I don't think you are crazy! After all, we all had zero experience in our industries before we started doing our things. Especially if you have an established community to crowd source from, or maybe the ability to start the brand we people you know locally and then move from there, I think it is likely a completely doable idea.
The question that…[Read more]

Just checking in 🙂
Whatcha workin on?
Just finished a load of tech edits, am psyching myself up to have a major clear out of my studio – looks like a bomb has hit it! Decluttering is the order of the day – of my head as well as my home and workspace. I'm keeping a tight leash on the TE as it's taking up all my time and I want to do more design…[Read more] -

@c-c-almon it is going in! I emailed re reviewing. If I could get an electronic copy for that purpose it would be great. I'm happy to print it out and it gives me a bit of time.

Hey @leigh-kristensen, thanks. I'm looking at the Wikipedia page, because at this point if it isn't contained on a single page, I don't have time, but there is some good stuff there.

What's going well?
The final version of my new logo arrived yesterday. I'm SO excited. The prototype for the new interchangeable needle case worked first time, and was actually saleable.
Whatcha' workin' on?
I am so over stocked on fabric, and want to do a run of bags to use up all my left overs and remnants. I've procrastinated because…[Read more] -

@jill-wolcott I found the book Getting Stuff Done had a system that suited me for managing paper flow (or land slide.)

Leigh Kristensen replied to the topic Looking for help designing business card in the forum Engineering 8 years, 4 months ago
Firstly, have a good think. Is it just a business card you need, or a logo with the option to develop other stationery requirements. For example, you'll need something to put on your website, newsletter, and patterns.
I have used fiverr. I chose the designer because I liked their previous work, and their personal statement gave me the feeling…[Read more]

Oh Linda, all my love and kind wishes to you and your family.
The only thing I would add, is that you only really need to communicate with clients and customers where it effects your service delivery. And you don't have to be really specific, the main thing is to explain how the situation effects them.
In this situation I like to carry on…[Read more]

I run a fiber podcast/wrote fiber books. That's been my sole business since I started when I was 18. Now I have my business where I want it and feel really comfortable in every way.
But… Now I'm like a biz drug addict who lost their dealer. I love, love, love my business and my community but I want that thrill of building a new thing.
I have…[Read more]

Numbering things is always a big winner. Noting big names is a winner.
How about:
X number of things Elizabeth Zimmerman taught me.
What Elizabeth Zimmerman taught me about haters.
Elizabeth Zimmerman, sweaters and ignoring the haters.

Trolls, Sweaters and Elizabeth Zimmerman.I clearly vote to…[Read more]

So I was doing the Map Your Biz thing today and everything from last 12 months that I liked revolved around videos and collaboration.
Everything that did inspire happiness was related to writing.
I have been trying to motivate myself to finish my last book DYE (it's literally all finished from cover to demo videos, I just need to plug the…[Read more]

@april-ridgeway, Lea-Ann brings up the first thing I thought of. I don't think you can just say let's band together to get a booth. TNNA has rules. The business must be a wholesale member of TNNA and be an umbrella business like Stitch Sprouts.
But anyway, your customers aren't shops, they are designers, yarn companies, publishers, etc. I…[Read more]
