@dawn-craig way to go!!!!
@karen-robinson wowza, that's some savings, yay!! I also think it will be good to have just the one shop URL.
@jill-wolcott it sounds like you're really knocking the productivity thing out of the park, huzzah!!
One of my goals for this year is to take a more active role in the forums myself, and I'm really hoping we…[Read more]

Hi Grace! First up, YES – you totally have permission to pursue any business path that you want!
But I'm also with April: how will this affect your fiber biz? And by the way, it's totally okay to say that it'll affect your fiber biz by letting go of fiber in order to pursue this new thing, but it's just something to always think about. Are you…[Read more] -

April, this is awesome, yay!!!
I don't have any advice to offer you re: the booth itself, because I'm not technically a TNNA member, though I do get their emails. However! I did see (because I get their emails) this week that they're looking for people to serve on some sort of creative content/educational advisory board? I think you should…[Read more] -

This is great, Grace! It's so helpful when we have those moments of clarity!
I also just want to say for anyone feeling this way, there is another option: hiring someone else to do the finishing for you (or at least, most of it). This is actually what I do for a living, so trust me, it's a thing that exists! You put in the work of making the…[Read more]

Thanks for the ideas! It's great that you've found that making videos really works for you!
I thought I had found my thing – pattern developing and writing – since it combines the best bits of what I'm interested in and have always enjoyed. Yes, I actually enjoy the editing and layout, etc as well as the development, but I'm far, far too slow at…[Read more]

@karen-robinson, Huzzah! on saving money! I have a couple of things I need to shut off, but I really worked on cutting expenses last year. I'm happy to spend if it is useful. I like buffer, but I like CoSchedule most. Keeps me posting everywhere with just a few minutes of work. Love it, but it was a huge decision to cut other things to pay…[Read more]

@rachel-brooks I always felt guilty that I wasn't a finisher either until I figured out what worked for me. It's been a long process and I think I was hanging out in “kind of works” territory with the books. I obviously CAN finish but doing it too much was just burning me out.
But then I found videos and holy cats they are so great. Things just…[Read more]

Thanks Jill… I always forget to come to this one because for some reason Chrome saved Engineering as my link here. I'm working on remembering it better though. I need a place to talk these things out and sometimes don't want to wait for chat.

Yay, @dawn-craig! So happy that you had a successful show! May it be a sign of things to come. 🙂
@jill-wolcott: I've been hoping for more interaction on the forums here, too, but you've been doing a much better job than me at helping make that happen on your end. I read everything that is posted, but I don't comment very often. I tend to be a…[Read more]

@karen-george, I feel you get out what you put in. I have trouble getting to chat because I just need to get stuff done! I always say, “I get shit done”, but now I'm focusing on making it the right stuff!
I'm always interested in knowing people better–but there seems to be less interaction here than there used to be.

Good for you Jill. I am a newby here and have been following people and conversations. I see you as a real go getter and admire what you are doing. Even with your being busy with your own business, you always have time for the other members. Look forward to knowing you better!

So I had my show in Ocean City this weekend and it was GREAT! The last time I did this show was 2 years ago and I'm up 25% from then! My costs were also down because we found better prices on lodging and got a place with a kitchenette so we only ate out on the way home. So excited and I hope it's a sign of how all my shows will go.

Yes definitely more clarity now and I'm working my online sales goal for Feb and March. I'm going to also work on some big more long term goals for the next few years.

Monthy review of January 2017 goes like this: The monthly mile markers that I set up to get to the quarterly goal went pretty well. I don't have too many patterns to sell yet so I bumped up design time to 30 hours a week just doing that. I now know that is an ambitious goal, I averaged about 25 hours each week. I didn't make any money but no…[Read more]

@jill-wolcott In that case, all you really need is the workflow:

You're speaking to me, too!
I had just come to the conclusion that although I have lots of enthusiasm and ideas – and can take them a long way – I don't seem to be a finisher. But perhaps what you're saying applies to me, too, and I need to find a new was of implementing them… 🙂
