Thanks, @jill-wolcott! Yes, he did. I had a backup plan of hiring a professional photographer who does knitting photography (she took my photo for Berlin Braids: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/berlin-braids) but this way, it is less complicated and less money spend.

I just had my first ever photo shooting with a model. It took longer than expected but that was no problem, as she is our neighbor. And from first check, the photos are really nice. 🙂

Do you know of any graphic designers who do this kind of thing? I'd really prefer to work with someone who is used to making templates for patterns – it's so difficult to get a feel for their work if they usually work in very different areas.

I'm sure you're right, Joeli: if you only have one person then you're asking them to be their own tech editor for your patterns, which is perhaps neither practical nor fair.

This model really appeals to me, but would need to be carefully weighed up. On the one hand, I'm not getting anything out at a rate that's going to earn anything at all on my…[Read more]

@rachel-brooks I think you could find someone who can do all of that, but it might be tricky. Probably you're looking at two people — one person who puts it into layout, then sends it to your tech editor who sends changes back to the first person to update who then sends final copy to you.

That sounds good, @karen-george! Sometimes we learn a lot in working towards a goal even if we don't meet it exactly in the way we thought we would.
